Sad Tidings

Taking down the last of our Christmas decorations, I noticed I was feeling a bit sad. Rather than brush it off, I decided to take a deeper look to see where this sadness was coming from.

In doing so, I noticed some of the thoughts/questions going through my mind.

  • Is this really all worth it?

  • I give up trying to make things happen.

  • Maybe it’s time for some new traditions.

Mostly they had to do with disappointment as some things didn’t go as I had hoped.

As I pondered this more, I realized maybe it was less about Christmas and more about life in general.

It’s not unusual to find ourselves in situations that we would not have imagined, not have expected, and certainly not have hoped for.

Life has a way of doing this.

How we respond is important.

For me it’s about trusting that:

  • God has a plan.

  • I’m not in control.

  • Everything is going to be okay.

God understand the reasons we get sad more than we do. I believe he eagerly awaits the opportunity to fill us with love, joy and hope.

We must be open and willing to receive and unwrap these gifts, all year long. When we do, we feel his presence.

It feels good and I feel better.

Maybe this is about Christmas after all.

It’s the reason he came.

Wow . . .

“Good news brings great joy.”

Here’s to more WOW Moments!

With love,

Lucy
